BabySense Monitor Review: Why I Chose This Monitor as a Second-Time Mom

When I was a first-time mom, I honestly thought a baby monitor was one of those nice but not necessary purchases. A few months into motherhood, though, I quickly realized it was actually one of the biggest peace-of-mind tools I owned.

No one warned me about phantom cries. I cannot count how many times I was in the shower or doing dishes and swore my daughter was crying, only to run to her room and find her completely asleep.

If you’re pregnant or a new mom, wondering if you really need a monitor, trust me, you will love having one. Not just for safety, but also because watching your baby sleep peacefully is honestly one of the sweetest parts of motherhood.

Why I chose a Different Baby Monitor the Second Time

As a first-time mom, I didn’t really know what features I would actually use. My only requirement was a non-WiFi monitor because I had heard too many scary hacking stories. Other than that, I didn’t think about the features I would need in the various stages of motherhood.

Then we went from one child to two, and suddenly the monitor didn’t work for our lives anymore.

I couldn’t see both kids at once, I couldn’t easily hear who was awake, and bedtime felt chaotic because I was constantly checking rooms. That’s when I realized something important. Baby gear should not only work for right now. It should work for the next few years, too.

My biggest advice when researching any baby product is to think about your future stage of motherhood, not just your current one.

I wanted one monitor that could grow with our family, not one I would replace every time our needs changed. So I went back into full research mode and found what I genuinely believe is one of the best non-WiFi monitors for moms with multiple kids.

Quick Overview of the Babysense Monitor

The Babysense MaxView Pro Monitor is what I chose for baby number two, and honestly, it checked boxes I didn’t even realize I had.

The top reasons were the budget-friendly price and the mom-friendly features.

I purchased the monitor with two cameras for under $200, which, for a non-WiFi split-screen monitor, felt like a huge win.

Features I Love

Non-WiFi Connection
This is a must for me. I sleep better knowing the monitor is extremely difficult to hack. Peace of mind matters more than fancy app features in my opinion.

Split-Screen Viewing (See Both Kids at Once)
Game changer. I can watch my toddler and baby simultaneously without toggling back and forth.

Expandable Up to 4 Cameras
This was huge. Whether you have more kids, want a playroom camera, or just want flexibility, you will not outgrow this monitor.

Auto Camera Switching Audio
The monitor rotates audio every 15 seconds to each camera, so I quickly know who needs me. No guessing and no running from room to room.

Two-Way Talk (Microphone)
This is amazing for toddlers. Half the time, my daughter doesn’t need me; she needs reassurance. “Lay back down, sweetie, it’s still bedtime.”

Temperature Sensor
Not essential but very helpful. Our furnace stopped working one winter night, and the temperature alert woke us up so we could bundle her up safely.

Drawbacks (Because Nothing Is Perfect)

Shorter Battery Life
If unplugged all day, or used frequently, it will not always last through the night. I ensure it has a full charge before I go to bed at night.

Bright Indicator Lights
Great during the day, but not great at 2 am. I literally cover mine with a sock because I need total darkness to sleep.

Why I chose the Babysense monitor

All the features made this an easy decision as a mom of two, but what really sold me was how practical it is for real daily life.

The video and sound quality are crystal clear. I can tell immediately if a cry is “I lost my pacifier” or “come get me now.”

But the biggest surprise was their customer service.

After a few months, our monitor developed a crack behind the stand and wouldn’t stay upright anymore. I emailed support, expecting a long process, but within a week, they sent me a brand new monitor with no hassle.

We also travel with ours constantly. When visiting family, we set up the cameras in seconds and still get to relax after bedtime instead of hovering near bedrooms.

For me, that’s the true test of a baby product. Does it make parenting easier in real life?
This one absolutely does.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, 100%!!  If I were starting over tomorrow as a first-time mom, this is actually the monitor I would register for from the beginning, so I would not have to upgrade later.

Motherhood has enough mental load already. A good monitor removes one small piece of worry, and honestly, that is priceless during the newborn and toddler years.

If you’re building your registry or upgrading for baby number two, I highly recommend this one.
